"Scouting's Journey to Excellence" is the BSA's council performance recognition program designed to encourage and reward success, and measure the performance of our units, districts, and councils. It is meant to encourage excellence in providing a quality program at all levels of the BSA.
The award of excellence recognizes units that conduct their Scouting programs in a manner that supports the district's efforts in the areas of membership, advancement, finance, service camping and conducting a quality program.
The information needed to gather for this application makes a strong self-evaluation tool for the unit. Units with no intention of applying for the award can use this information to help make an assessment of the unit's strengths and weaknesses.
The official number of youth in the unit will be taken from council records on the same date for every unit. The dates used for this award will be January 1 through December 31. The commissioner team will make the final award selections.
